Death By Christianity (0)

July 15th, 2009 by pb, under Christianity.

Do you sometimes confuse the things that you are supposed to do as a follower of Christ with who you are supposed to know? I think this is something that most, if not all of us struggle with at some point to varying degrees. Maybe for some, you have no idea. You may even have simply learned that from a leader or even the person that lead you to Christ. For some, it may be completely intentional. It’s an easy way to skate thru life as a Christian, but are you really a follower of Christ? See, God is the source of our Christ-likeness. Without a relationship there, how is it even possible to call yourself a Christian? The things we do are irrelevant so when we replace a relationship with God with the things we do, that leads to spiritual death…

Take a look at these questions and let them stir discussion in this blog entry…

What does it mean to you when the Bible says that our good deeds are to point people to Christ?

Other than pointing people to Christ, in God’s eyes, do our good deeds have any meaning or significance?

Is it possible to have faith in God and not do good deeds?

Is it possible to good deeds without faith in God?

Closing thoughts…
It’s easy to feel satisfied in your relationship with Christ because of your good deeds and forget about the relationship. Maybe it’s purposeful… or maybe you just get comfortable in life and forget that relationships take constant care and attention; especially one that goes against everything that the world imposes. God asks for nothing less than the best we have to give every day. Considering what we have been given, it seems like an easy trade.
